WILD.ECO is a youth program founded in 2015 by nature explorer and FUJIFILM photographer DANIEL FOX. One of the foundation’s primary goals is to raise funds in support of sending inner-city youths and under privileged teens to a month-long wilderness immersion camp organized by National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). While proceeds from the sales of Fox’s prints help fund tuition and transportation costs, Fox works with national outdoor brands to sponsor gear and clothing for students. Upon completion of the program, students are often faced with what to do with the excitement, knowledge and insight they have gained from their life-changing experience. Fox continues to mentor each and every student, providing support, guidance, resources and the proper tools that would enable them to continue exploring.
Through his photographs, videos and storytelling, Fox seeks to inspire the public to experience nature as a framework and mindset for personal transformation. He believes that Nature has the power to Nurture, Awaken, Transform, Uplift, Restore and Elevate the human spirit.
Quoting Fox: “When we go on weekend trips, we bring along our lifestyle and habits. Which is normal. It takes approximately 2-weeks for a person to shed these habits and start embracing the new environment. Immersion of more than 2-weeks allows for a complete disconnect. It is like learning a new language, the language of our natural world. And while it is possible to do it in small doses, there is nothing like total absorption into a new environment in order to properly learn about it and how we are all indelibly connected to it, and it to us.”
